We decided to head out to the subway when it became clear that no one else was coming. There were at least 100 men and women at that week’s Jummah prayer, a weekly congregational prayer that the Muslim Students Association holds every Friday in the Earl Hall auditorium.

Kathryn Kolbert is more than just the co-founder of the Athena Film Festival and director of the Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard. In 1992, Kolbert argued the landmark case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey before the U.S. Supreme Court and helped to save Roe v. Wade.
