Heavyweight Rowers Make History With 9-1 Record, Ready for Sprints
The Columbia University rowing program has had a very exciting year at the varsity heavyweight level, while the women's team and men's lightweights have struggled but always put up a fight against competitors. The Lions will finish their seasons in the middle of May when they compete in the Eastern Sprints.

The Columbia rowing teams that were in action this past weekend were unable to come away with wins against their opponents. Both the men’s sub-varsity heavyweight team and the women’s team fell short of victories. The crews had wished to end their dual meet seasons on a high note. However, they now hope that these losses will not impact their showing at the sprints coming up in several weeks.

Lions’ Heavyweight Rowing Scores Historic Victories Over Yale, Navy
This weekend was filled with exciting moments for the Columbia heavyweight rowing team, as the Lions brought two prestigious cups back home after a long absence. The first, the Blackwell Cup, came by defeating Yale and Penn for the first time in 67 years and the Maxwell Stephenson Cup was earned for the first time in 45 years as the Light Blue downed Navy. The lightweight team did not fare as well as its fellow rowers but was still able to have a strong showing.
CU Rowing Heads To Yale for Two Competitions
Both of the Columbia men’s rowing teams will be in action this weekend as the lightweights race against Ivy foes Yale and Penn in the Dodge Cup, hosted by Yale.
Rowing Teams Experience Close Losses All Around
This past weekend, the three rowing teams went into tough regattas with hopes of emerging victorious. Although the Lions were unable to accomplish this goal, they still improved from last week’s races and now look like contenders for their upcoming contests.
Rowing Teams Bring Home Mixed Results
| Apr 7This past weekend, all three of Columbia’s rowing teams were in action simultaneously for the first time since spring break. The men’s heavyweight team fared the best, defeating MIT and Holy Cross in all three of its races at the Alumni Cup at home, while the lightweight and women’s teams finished with mixed results in races on Lake Carnegie in Princeton.
