With the Columbia men’s basketball on its current tear, I am reminded of the old adage “if you live by the three, you die by the three.” Whether or not this saying—usually applied to the NBA—will hold true for the Lions will be key in discussions of the team’s Ivy League fate.

This past weekend contained by far the most hectic and intense experiences I have had as a Columbia sports fan. I made my voice heard across the Northeast, from the back row of Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn. to the freezing bleachers of Cornell soccer’s Berman Field in Ithaca.

This team is 0-7, and it can’t seem to do anything right, but the heart displayed at Baker on Saturday was tremendous.

I’m not hoping to make students appreciate Columbia athletics more than say, free food, but I hope to show you that going to see the Lions play can actually be rewarding on a number of levels.
