There is no hypocrisy in noting that our systems of production and transportation have made fossil fuels virtually mandatory in everyday life. The University must step up to say that the science we teach and practice is not to be blithely ignored.

Divest Barnard, an organization made up of several students who have split from Barnard Columbia Divest, are working with other schools whose endowments are invested with Barnard’s as part of their efforts to get the college to divest from fossil fuels.
