President Bollinger sent an email to the Columbia community this afternoon regarding the “pending proposals regarding Columbia University’s investments: divestment from companies engaged in the operation of private prisons and divestment from fossil fuels.”

CPD finally met with ACSRI on Tuesday, but group members said they were still frustrated because much of the committee membership had changed, and they had to repeat many of the concerns they presented to ACSRI in the spring.

The Advisory Committee on Socially Responsible Investing voted not to support Barnard Columbia Divest’s proposal to divest from fossil fuel companies because the proposal did not meet ACSRI’s criteria for divestment.

The advisory committee that makes recommendations to the University Board of Trustees on how to invest the school’s endowment ethically will hold its annual town hall meeting this Tuesday.
