After gathering at the Intercultural Resource Center, around 25 students marched to University President Lee Bollinger’s Freedom of Speech and Press class in Schermerhorn Hall and silently held signs outside the classroom.

Students at the rally also discussed Columbia’s Manhattanville expansion and the recent police presence in the area. Students carried signs that said “Gentrification and mass incarceration ≠ sustainability” and “Columbia is part of a police state.”
