Women’s golf heads to Pennsylvania to open fall season

The Columbia women’s golf team will kick off its first season under head coach Amy Weeks this weekend at the Lady Bison Fall Classic in Lewisburg, Pa.

Athletic Director M. Dianne Murphy named Weeks, an assistant coach for the Lions over the past three years, the acting head coach following the departure of former head coach Kari Williams to Rutgers.

Weeks isn’t the only significant change to the Lions. For the first time in four seasons, the Light Blue will be without Michelle Piyapattra, CC ’14, the three-time first-team All-Ivy performer who recently turned pro—and who won last year’s Lady Bison Fall Classic in a playoff, leading Columbia to a second-place finish.

First-years Monica Chen and Nancy Xu round out the new squad.

The team will play the first round on Saturday and conclude the three-round tournament on Sunday.
