No. 16 Columbia men’s tennis tops No. 19 Vanderbilt to advance to round of 16

The Columbia men’s tennis team’s historic march will continue into the round of 16.

A day after winning its first-ever match in the NCAA Tournament, it added a second victory, taking down regional host No. 19 Vanderbilt, 4-3.

After Columbia dropped the doubles point, juniors Ashok Narayana and Bert Vancura, and sophomore Mike Vermeer won singles points for the Lions.

The match came down to No. 1 singles, where No. 18 junior Winston Lin pulled out a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over No. 21 Austin Gonzales.

The Light Blue’s next match will be against No. 1 USC at 9 a.m. on May 16 in Athens, Georgia. | @muneebalamcu
