Women’s rowing heads to Florida

The women’s rowing team will get its spring season under way on Saturday. The team competed in just two events in the fall and was last in action at the Princeton Chase on Oct. 27. It will compete more frequently in the spring, though, hitting the water every weekend for the next month.

The Lions are making what will be their longest trip of the season, heading down to Florida for the Governor’s Cup, hosted by Florida Tech. Last season, the team enjoyed great success at the event, winning all of its races. The three events in which Columbia rowers are competing will be a varsity eight race and a varsity four race against Florida Tech and nearby Barry University, followed by a novice four race against Tech.

The event starts at 9 a.m. in Fellsmere, Fla.
