The wrestling team (5-3, 2-2 EIWA) wil be searching for its fifth straight win Friday when it hosts Bucknell (5-7, 2-1 EIWA) Friday.
I think that we match up fairly well against Bucknell, head coach Carl Fronhofer said. I think if we wrestle hard and wrestle smart we have a really good chance to win.
The team, according to Fronhofer, has been doing just that over the past few weeks. After a narrow loss to Rutgers on Jan. 3, the Lions won three matches in a row fairly comfortably. Most recently, they won a slightly tighter 20-13 decision at American.
Even in some of the individual bouts that weve lost, I felt like our performance overall has been good, Fronhofer said.
Everyone is just wrestling with a lot of effort, 165-pound senior Josh Houldsworth said. Thats what it takes to win close matches.
While effort is important, Fronhofer pointed to a few specific skills the team must work on.
The effort has certainly been there, he said. Just fixing some technical things that guys need to fix on a case-by-case basis.
The match kicks off at 7 p.m. in the University Gym.
