First-year forward Luke Petrasek knocked down four threes en route to a game-high 20 points.

The men's basketball team (7-5) cruised in its first game during winter break, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson (3-10) at home, 82-59.

The outcome was never really in doubt. First-year forward Luke Petrasek, who led all scorers with 20 points, drilled the first of his four threes to open the scoring less than 30 seconds in, and on Columbia's next possession, sophomore guard Grant Mullins connected from long range himself to put his team up by six. The Lions led 10-1 just three minutes in, and while the Knights responded to cut their deficit to 12-11, the Light Blue finished the first half on a 30-16 run to take a comfortable lead into the break.

The second half was more of the same. Petrasek and Mullins again connected from beyond the arc to kick things off, and sophomore guard Maodo Lo scored from long range himself on Columbia's next trip down the floor to push the Light Blue's lead to 22.

The 82 points the Lions scored marked a season-high, as Petrasek, Mullins, Lo, junior forward Alex Rosenberg, and junior center Cory Osetkowski all scored in double figures.

Columbia now has a week off before facing St. John's at Barclays Center on Saturday. | @muneebalamcu
