Voting opened on Monday in the online, undergraduate poll on whether the Naval ROTC, which left campus in 1969, should be allowed to return to Columbia. Despite small irregularities in polling procedures—each student received a unique link to the survey, but responses could be fraudulently changed if would-be poll-stackers obtained other students’ links—the representatives of the undergraduate student councils who coordinated the vote said that it will remain open for a full week. Above and at left, students protest against NROTC’s return on the grounds that the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy discriminates against LGBT students.
