I once heard a story about a law student who conquered sleep. His sleep cycles were completely chemically regulated. One pill made him larger, and one pill made him small. He ran, and I suppose also took law school finals, connected to an IV coffee drip. He's still in law school.
Clearly, something about this scenario is not right. If I could keep myself from sleeping ever, I'd go into business leveling up WoW characters all day or go into some other enterprising venture---why ever* would I stay in law school if I had this ability?
Because I have not walked through the valley of the shadow of sleep, though, it's good to know that the Columbia community has my back and is giving me an alternative perspective on the importance of being sleepy. The SGA Furman Counseling Committee was in the Diana today with a bed to promote healthy sleeping habits. In hindsight, this definitely would have been a cheerier place to nap in than my Art Hum class.
