This week in ESC: The results are in

Want to know how you can be a part of Engineering Student Council? Curious about the progress on the possible pass/fail policy? Lillian Chen brings you the top four highlights from last night’s Engineering Student Council meeting:

  • PDF: Results and data for the elective non-tech class survey are in, and ESC Vice President for Policy Bora Kim, SEAS ’13, said that the survey showed that a significant number of undergraduates in the School of Engineering and Applied Science choose their non-technical courses based on the easiness of class. About 20 percent of SEAS undergraduates took the survey, and it showed that students choosing non-tech courses take professor reviews, class quality, curriculum, and the easiness of class into consideration most. Kim said that some students who filled out the survey submitted “heartbreaking anecdotes,” like feeling discouraged from taking higher-level liberal arts courses. The council hopes to move forward in trying to implement a new pass/fail policy for non-tech courses.
