With spring break already half over, you might be jealous flicking through your newly tanned friends’ Instagram photos of the beach. Suddenly, staying home feels less appealing. While your plans may be hyper-localized, these Netflix options offer all the experience of a road trip without any of the effort.
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
While this movie is about Neal Page’s attempts to get home for Thanksgiving, it is so funny that it remains a great Spring Break watch. Neal, played by Steve Martin, is on a flight diverted to Kansas because of snow in Chicago. He receives assistance from a nice but awkward shower curtain ring salesman played by John Candy.
The 80s feel of this movie is apparent, but it is also directed by John Hughes, so it doesn’t feel too dated. There is so much that’s funny in this movie. I consistently crack up at the ridiculous scenarios created. Last week proved that snow and spring aren’t necessarily exclusive things, so you should sit down and adventure through the Midwest.
