Updated, 12:43 a.m.: We just spoke to one of Christian's suitemates, who says he sent the email to Christian and other suitemates as a joke and didn't intend for it to end up on campus media. (How he made it appear to come from housing@columbia.edu is anyone's guess.) So, that's the end of that.
Original post: About an hour and a half ago, one of our staff members received an email from Housing indicating that his group's lottery number was incorrect. According to the email, the number the group received—10/1—was incorrect, and should actually be 10/1244.
We suspect that Housing is playing a late-night April Fools' joke on the sophomores who received the best lottery numbers, but there's no way to be sure. As of now, we haven't received any other tips about changed lottery numbers, and the list of lottery numbers on the Housing website still shows the group as 10/1.
Check after the jump for the email, which was sent to Deputy News Editor Christian Zhang, as well as a screenshot. We're reaching out to Housing for comment, but don't expect any official word until Tuesday morning.
