Welcome to the fourth edition of Do the Don’ts -- not sure if you’ve heard, but we’re controversial now! As always, you’ve sent us your problems, and we’re going to tell you exactly what you should not do.
Gradewhore asks:
"Hi Misha and Jenne,
Recently, a professor gave me a 100 on an exam. I mean, yay!, but the breakdown of the points was -1 and +2 bonus points. According to my calculations I should have a 101.
I know I'm being kind of bratty, but it's more the principle of the thing. Should I confront my arithmetically-challenged professor, o wise ones?"
Dear Gradewhore,
Normally, we would propose a few alternative suggestions for you. However, we cannot stress enough that the ONLY way to combat this injustice is with legal action. Not only has your professor committed an unforgivable moral transgression, he has violated your most basic human rights. Do not stay the hand of vengeance---your cause justifies any extreme actions that you might take in order to recover your points and your personhood.
