Do the don'ts: wanted dead or alive

Crazy in Claremont asks:

Dear Misha and Jenne,

I haven't slept in days because I'm convinced that my dorm room is haunted. On Monday, I had a nightmare that a ghost was moving all of my stuff around and when I woke up, I found that my refrigerator had moved to the other side of my room. I keep hearing noises and have this burning feeling that something is watching me whenever I'm back home. What should I do?

Dear Crazy in Claremont,

1. First off, you’re not crazy. Learning to live with someone else is always difficult, even if that person is dead. Ectoplasmic roommate drama is still roommate drama. Communication is key. Try leaving notes in ancient tongues around your room. Illiteracy is highly stigmatized in the ghost community, so don’t assume it will be able to read your Aramaic. If the notes aren’t working, it seems like this ghost is communicating with you through your dreams, so you should probably become an expert in lucid dreaming. Once you do that, calmly tell the ghost that you’d prefer if it didn’t move your things around without your permission. Connect to it on the level of respect, and explain that if there are any interior design qualms the ghost would like to discuss with you, you would be happy to take its ideas into consideration.
