Many Columbia students might cite their longest, most reliable relationship as the one they share with their Starbucks coffee. But a recent initiative taken by the New York Times hopes to entice the next generation of caffeine devotees to share the love and purchase a subscription. The paper’s partnership with Starbucks, which went into effect in mid-February, allows nonsubscribers to access a selection of 15 free articles a day while in one of the coffee chain’s locations—in addition to the 10 free monthly articles allowed of all nonsubscribers. So what’s in it for the Times?
