Burrito battle: Chipotle versus Taqueria y Fonda

In the first edition of our new Food & Drink series, Plate to Plate, we have Chipotle up against Taqueria y Fonda.

Like most West Coast students used to a taqueria on every street corner, I have something of a love-hate relationship with Chipotle. On the one hand, it’s great to have a traditional taqueria nearby. On the other, cilantro-lime rice? Tabasco? Extra $2.25 for guac when the avocados aren’t even all that ripe? There’s something about Chipotle that isn’t quite auténtico.
