A team of presumably pocket-protector-wearing data crunchers, overseen by Columbia doctoral-candidate Blake Shaw, has created a new iPhone and Android app called CabSense. According to the New York Times, the app will allow users to find the best corners in New York to hail a taxi using an incredibly thorough algorithm, which apparently will "take into account parades, street construction and other factors that could skew the numbers."
