Remembering Dorothy Height, who overcame Barnard admissions racism

Dorothy Height, called the 'godmother of the civil rights movement' by President Obama, passed away last night at the age of 98. In 1929, Height gained admission with a four-year scholarship to Barnard and packed her bags to come to college. She was turned away because Barnard had met their tacit quota of TWO, yes TWO, black students per year.
