Maoz, the vegetarian falafel chain occupying the old home of Empanada Joe's, is open for business (!) as of 10:30 a.m. today. Spec is at the door patiently waiting to give you the first peek of what we hope is a new option in the never-ending quest to find something good to eat in MoHi. Menu, interview, and photos being continually updated after the jump.
Update: People inside tell us they won't be opening until 11. We'll believe it when we see it.
"Come onnnn, we're hungry" update: Apparently they're not opening until noon now. Sounds like somebody should get their falafel together.
"Better late than never" update: They're open! We'll be posting pictures and a review shortly.
"We've finally eaten" update: Results are in. We had a falafel, hummus, and eggplant sandwich and were overjoyed to learn we could make use of the all-you-can-fit-on-a-sandwich salad bar topping station. We loaded our sandwiches with cucumber-tomato salad, roasted beets, extra chickpeas, roasted broccoli, and a number of sauces. In a MoHi first, we ate for $6.80 and were full. Check tomorrow's Spectator for a full review.
