The last couple of days have seen pols representing Columbia's district issue strong statements on subjects near to their hearts. Yesterday, Rep. Charles Rangel, up for re-election but embroiled in a dispute over ethical violations that has seen him called to trial in the House, addressed an enthusiastic crowd at Columbia and vowed to fight the charges.
On Wednesday, Daniel O'Donnell, state assemblyman for Morningside Heights and surrounding neighborhoods, released a statement in support of the decision to overturn Prop 8 in California. O'Donnell was the first openly gay man elected to the New York State Assembly. His statement is after the jump.
