To most sports fans, myself included, there is no more exciting time than the weeks before a season starts. This is the time filled with hope, potential, and, in many cases, unfounded optimism.
Skeptics would tell me that the best part of a season is the end, when a playoff push or pennant race is in full-flight, but I guess this is what years of following losing clubs does to my perception of a sports season (here's to looking directly at every Philadelphia professional sports team and their years of superb failure).
