Today, Spec Sports ran an interesting in focus article on the Columbia women’s soccer team. The piece, written by Sarah Sommer, focuses on the team's veterans during their early success.
Head coach Kevin McCarthy went into more detail about how the foundation of veterans allows the underclassmen to focus on improving as players and team members. McCarthy hit on an important point that I don’t think is thought about when considering the success of a program. Namely, that a core of seniors allows the coaches to nurture young talent.
