As Columbia students, we’ve all received the same advice at some point in our tenure here: Take the time to leave Morningside and explore New York. Wise words, but when the weekend comes, the vast majority of us stick to our neighborhood, like suburban kids who haven’t learned to ride bikes yet. There are several reasons for this: laziness, ignorance, a desire for the familiar, a blind hope that you’ll run into/hook up with some girl who’s really into Spectator Opinion blogging.
But none of those reasons are very good. So below are a few suggestions on how to actually make it downtown this time.
