In a fall where we've already welcomed some new awnings to Morningside Heights, Bettolona opens just north of Columbia's main campus. The restaurant, which specializes in "rustic Italian food" and the now-ubiqutious "thin crust pizza," opened this past weekend on Broadway and 125th Street. According to Grub Street, the place is owned by Sebastiano Cappitta, who also runs Bettola and Acqua, two other UWS Italian standbys. See Grub Street for the full menu. Pizzas are around $12 with entrees costing up to $17. As with Mel's Burger Bar, Bettolona doesn't seem quite cheap enough for what it's serving. After all, they've got Koronet's to compete with.
