Becoming the first U.S. campus of its kind, Columbia will officially open the Center for Palestine Studies as a part of the Middle East Institute. While the public launch is tonight at 7:30 in Havemeyer, the center was founded in January in order to bring together students, professors, and scholars focusing on Palestinian history and culture.
The opening event tonight will include a screening of Palestinian director Michel Khleifi followed by Khleifi himself. Later events include panels and discussions led by scholars on Palestine.
