In its 16th fare hike ever, and second since most of us enrolled, the MTA has approved an increase in subway transit fare yet again. Starting Dec. 30 of this year, subway rides will be $2.50 instead of $2.25, new MetroCards will cost $1 instead of being free like they've always been, and there will no longer be any one-day or 14-day unlimited ride cards. Meanwhile, 30-day metrocards have jumped up to $104. Ouch, MTA, I thought we had something special. Some good news after the jump! And a little more bad news for our friends in the class of 2014.
