Last night Spectrum reported that Everyone Allied Against Homophobia will be distributing these fliers to every dorm room on campus. The organization asks that students put them up in their windows to signify their room as a "safe space" against homophobia and anti-gay violence or harassment. In a similar vein, Alexandra Katz wrote in her column yesterday of the tragic September suicides of five young gay men. The deaths of these young men serve as a horrific reminder that our nation is still far from tolerant, and that such safe spaces are as necessary now as they ever were.
