Columbia is a quirky place. And so much of our community here at Columbia—yes, we do have one, even if it isn't a typical one—is built around those quirks. I guess that's true of any community. We love making fun of ourselves, griping about ourselves, and pointing out what makes us different (and not always in a good way). That's what makes the Varsity Show work. It's why Frontiers (who says FroSci?) and University Writing are invaluable first-year bonding experiences. And it's what makes me a fan of Nuriel Moghavem's column series, and his recent entry on Lerner.
So while we're talking about our Columbian nemeses, here's mine: the Kent stairs.
