Halloween-costume culture any given year is affected most directly by age and what’s going on in pop-culture. When you were younger, your costume was probably chosen by your mother which would equate to what was availabile in the nearest costume store. Or if you were lucky, you’d get to pick it yourself and inevitably be a favorite character, animal, or childhood activity.
