No one goes into CMJ Music Marathon thinking they will get to see all of the bands, or even a 10th of the bands on the lineup. Likewise, no one slips on his or her CMJ badge with the expectation of seeing a show at all of the 82 venues at which the 1,000-plus bands play during the five days and nights. It’s just impossible. Often, Marathon-goers will head into the week really only looking to find their new favorite band, trudging through hours and hours of mediocre guitar riffs and keyboard solos to get there.
