In September, Columbia received a gift of $400 million to enhance its undergraduate financial aid, the single largest donation made to any university financial aid program. But even with the resultant adoption of a no-loan policy for Columbia College and Fu Foundation students, Columbia is still the most expensive of the Ivies, and, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education, the fifth most expensive school in the country (Sarah Lawrence College is the first).
