Last week I published a column proposing the creation of a varsity ice hockey program to boost school spirit and allow Columbia to compete with the six other Ivy League teams that do have hockey teams. Sadly, my suggestion has not yet been put into effect by the athletics department. Even worse, as the football team’s season continues to fall apart, Columbia sports fans have little to get excited about. Luckily, that’s all about to change in just over a week with the start of basketball season.
