At a meeting tonight, CCSC passed resolutions for several ongoing discussions. News reporter Melanie Broder was there to listen in.
CCSC made a unanimous decision to recommend to the University Senate that a smoking ban within 20 feet of any campus building be set, following the current precedent set by New York state law. There have been ongoing conversations to make the smoking ban 50 feet. However, due to the scope of the ban and the lack of support CCSC-conducted polls indicated, the council agreed to recommend the change to the Senate. ***Full explanation below
The council also entertained a request from Bacchanal for more funding in the hopes of attracting a bigger name for this year's event. No proposal has been submitted yet due to uncertainty about what exactly additional funding could bring. Check for more highlights after the jump.
