Bringing Columbia football to Yankee Stadium

The Lions’ football season is officially over.

While some fans are contemplating what went wrong this season, I am trying to stay optimistic for next year. And speaking of ‘there’s always next year,’ Wrigley Field, the legendary home of the Chicago Cubs, saw some action this off season. This past Saturday, two Big Ten teams—Illinois and Northwestern—competed within the friendly confines in a spectacle, conference matchup. This was not the first time Wrigley has hosted sports besides baseball. Just under two years ago I attended the NHL’s second annual Winter Classic between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Redwings at Wrigley. Despite ending in favor of the Redwings, it was one of the more bizarre, yet exciting, sporting events I’ve ever attended. It also made me wonder if Columbia football could do something similar.
