As students, we come face to face with an overwhelming number of choices about majors, summer internships, graduate school, etc. Pasted on the Columbia University website are phrases such as “nearly 100 undergraduate areas of study are offered,” “nearly 500 clubs and organizations,” and “more than 5,000 internships open to undergraduates every year.” And while we lament over the surplus of choice, it is also why we picked Columbia University. So why are we drawn to choices when they seem to make our lives harder?
