Supreme Court refuses M'ville case, University free to expand (UPDATED)

The Supreme Court has declined to hear the Manhattanville case, marking the end of a two-year legal dispute that began when the Empire State Development Corporation approved the use of eminent domain for Columbia's expansion in December 2008. With the court's decision Monday morning not to grant certiorari, Columbia is now free to proceed with the project.

Update (1:21 pm): Norman Siegel, the attorney for Tuck-It-Away owner Nick Sprayregen, said, ""The denial ... means that the abuse of eminent domain in New York stands."
