Having outgrown the sixth floor of Dodge years ago, Rostam Batmanglij, CC '06, has reached heights as grandiose as headlining Radio City Music Hall and topping charts with Vampire Weekend, which he serves as producer, keyboardist, background vocalist, and occasional songwriter. As if that all wasn't enough, he started a R&B group on the side, Discovery, and now Boys Like Us, a solo project that started out with remixes of pre-exisiting songs and has lately turned toward offbeat compositions to be accompanied by a string quartet. It was for this last project that Rostam took the stage at Le Poisson Rouge last night to play a few songs with The Calder Quartet, an acclaimed group of cellists and violinists that perform work by young, emerging composers. Full review after the jump.
