Boys play with trucks, girls play with dolls. Boys like sports, girls like playing house. While at a liberal arts college this sounds naïve to almost everyone, the science behind sex differences has historically been viewed in such black and white terms. Academic papers such as “Do Women Shy Away From Competition? Do Men Compete Too Much?” and a study that claimed mosquitoes are attracted to females more than males are all based on the idea that men and women are fundamentally different.
