Religiliteracy

Last week, my fellow blogger Neil FitzPatrick wrote, in his post on scientific literacy, “I’m sort of in awe of Columbia’s religious community. I’m not entirely sure what it takes to harmonize a highly-educated rational mind with a personal faith.”

We need to take the mystery out of faith. We need religious literacy.

Sure we sit at a table and read some religious texts, as we do in CC or First Year Seminar, but this is only textual exposure, snippets of a gargantuan existence interpreted by an often cold and belligerent religion-scoffing of the Academy. Is this enough?
