Columbian Poles celebrate a night of Chopin

Here’s an easy way to make a Polish person angry: tell him you think Frédéric Chopin was French.

Chopin was, in fact, half-French. But the great composer considered himself Polish, and Poles today are not going to let anyone forget that. The Chopin Piano Competition, held in a jam-packed Sulzberger Parlor by the Polish Student Society last night, was as much a testament to Chopin’s heritage as it was to his music.
