After the initial controversy surrounding the debate on the reinstatement of ROTC, I was surprised. I had thought that the general consensus seemed to be that reinstatement would follow the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell." I am no longer surprised by the fact that it seems like we're moving the goal posts on what it will take to bring ROTC back to campus—the reinstatement, it is true, is a serious topic worth having a long and thoughtful discussion on—but rather at the logic and, more problematically, the quality of the debate.
