Columbia doesn’t hate the military, but somebody hates Columbia

Bob McManus isn't happy with us, Columbia. McManus is the editorial page editor at the New York Post and decried the University in an op-ed about the recent ROTC town hall heckling incident (for those who missed it, here is an audio clip of the event). He first repeated the words of the speaker, former U.S. Army staff sergeant Anthony Maschek, and then had this to say about the heckling:

"The response?

Laughter.

Catcalls.

And the usual sophistries about gay rights, economic justice, America's hobnailed boots, whatever -- the same bushwa dragged out by the academy whenever it feels the need to deflect attention from the obvious, which is that it hates the military and has for more than a generation."

Ignoring for a moment Mr. McManus' dangerous assertion that arguments for gay rights are "sophistries," I thought it might be worthwhile to contrast his thoughts on Columbia's regard for the military with the thoughts of veterans who actually attend Columbia.
