A quick look around the world of Columbia and Ivy League sports to see who’s hot and who’s not.
Three Up:
Women's swimming and diving - A third place finish at the Ivy Championships was a great showing for this team. It is tied for the best finish in program history, and a frantic end to the meet gave Columbia a six-point lead over Penn. Third is an improvement (it finished sixth last year), and let's aim for one better next year.
Women's track and field - For the second straight year, the women scored the highest point total in school history and finished in second place behind Princeton. Arguably the most underrated team at Columbia, these girls continue to impress in every event. With only a five point difference between Columbia and Princeton, a first-ever Ivy title is not out of the question for next year.
Brian Barbour - This undersized point guard (he's generously listed at 6'1 on the roster) is fourth in the nation in free throw percentage, nailing 91.8 percent of his attempts this year. When Barbour gets to the charity stripe, he's getting the easy points. The only thing that's better than that? The player behind him (Oliver McNally) is from Harvard.
