Task Force releases full report on ROTC

The University Senate Task Force on Military Engagement released its astounding 228-page report on ROTC at Columbia this morning, after weeks of town halls, a survey, and research. While the results of the survey were released last night, this document presents more information, including transcripts of the town halls and all statements made by students, faculty, and staff, which make up all but 27 pages of the report.

The rest of the report includes a history of ROTC on campus, a look at programs at other schools, a detailed breakdown of the student survey, as well as "major findings" that detail the main issues surrounding the debate. The Task Force also included a statement of "unanimous findings and recommendations" that includes:

The Task Force believes that Columbia’s current relationships with the military enrich the Columbia community.
and
the Task Force believes the present is an appropriate time for the Senate to  revisit its previous stances on ROTC.

The entire report can be read here. A brief update and summary will be provided at today's USenate plenary session, while the full report will be discussed during the April 1 session. Full statement of the Task Force after the jump.
