After a bumpy start to its spring break trip with two losses to South Alabama, the Lions have rebounded with a five-game win streak against South Alabama, Florida Gulf Coast, and Rollins. Some thoughts from the trip so far:
1. New blood in the rotation
After being used mostly as a reliever for his first two seasons, junior Harrison Slutsky pitched a marvelous game against Florida Gulf Coast Wednesday, allowing just one run on three hits and one walk over seven innings in a 3-1 victory. Slutsky’s superb performance joins those of senior Dan Bracey, sophomore Stefan Olsen, and freshman David Speer, who have all had to step up in the wake of ace Pat Lowery’s early struggles.
