In an announcement this morning, the Columbia Athletics Department announced that it is replacing the varsity football and men’s basketball teams with men’s varsity cricket and curling squads. This will take effect next fall.
In a written statement, Atheletic Director M. Dianne Murphy said,
“The addition of these two squads helps us continue our Achieving Excellence Campaign by immediately giving us top tier teams in each sport due to the utter lack of competition across the country."
